Onyx Arena is a multi purpose entertainment venue in Jeddah, developed using a large scale modular tent based structure designed to support both temporary and longer term event use.
Created as a flexible live entertainment venue, the arena was designed to accommodate a wide range of events including concerts, sporting activations and large scale entertainment productions. The venue combines temporary event infrastructure with permanent operational systems, creating a flexible environment capable of supporting varying audience capacities, production requirements and event formats.
The construction of Onyx Arena involved the transformation of a previously undeveloped site into a fully operational entertainment venue, including the integration of utilities infrastructure, public event facilities, operational compounds and supporting back of house areas required for long term venue operation.
Following its initial delivery, the arena has continued to evolve through ongoing infrastructure enhancements, operational development and adaptation to support changing production requirements and continued live event use within Jeddah’s growing entertainment sector.

Special Projects supported the construction and ongoing infrastructure development of Onyx Arena on behalf of MDLBeast, working across venue construction, operational infrastructure integration and long term site enhancement works.
During the initial construction phase, our role included coordinating site logistics, contractor activity, temporary infrastructure and back of house operational services alongside the wider venue build programme. This included the installation and coordination of cabins, fencing, toilets and supporting operational infrastructure required to establish a functioning construction and event environment while major venue works progressed on site.
As the scale and complexity of the project increased, Special Projects introduced structured programme management and daily coordination processes across contractors, suppliers and operational stakeholders. We supported logistics management, delivery coordination, plant operations and infrastructure sequencing throughout the evolving construction programme, helping maintain operational control and clear communication across multiple concurrent workstreams.
Our role also included oversight and coordination of utilities, power and plumbing systems throughout construction, supporting the integration of both temporary and permanent infrastructure across the wider venue environment.
Following the initial construction delivery completed in early 2024, Special Projects continued supporting Onyx Arena through additional infrastructure and MEP upgrade works delivered in 2025. These works included fire life safety systems, plumbing and water infrastructure, operational upgrades, walls, gates and supporting site systems required to enhance venue compliance, operational readiness and long term venue functionality.
The upgrade works were coordinated within the operational constraints of the wider King Abdullah Sports City complex, requiring ongoing liaison with venue stakeholders and the Ministry of Sport whilst maintaining readiness for ongoing live venue operations.
Through ongoing coordination, infrastructure management and operational planning, Special Projects supported the development of Onyx Arena into a functioning multi purpose live entertainment venue capable of supporting long term event operations.
