Diriyah Oasis

LARGE SCALE CULTURAL EVENT DELIVERY

Client:

Evolution Events Dubai

Diriyah Oasis was a large scale cultural event delivered in Riyadh as part of Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 programme.

Designed as one of the first mixed gender public events of its kind in the Kingdom, it brought together families and individuals within a fully temporary site developed over approximately one square kilometre.

The event featured over 20 zones including art installations, food and beverage villages, family entertainment areas and premium dining experiences led by international chefs, with around 10 fully fitted restaurants forming the centre of the Oasis.

Large scale infrastructure and attractions were delivered across the site, including paved roads, utilities networks, water features, an ice rink and a water park, creating a fully immersive environment within a previously undeveloped location.

our role

Special Projects delivered site management for Diriyah Oasis on behalf of Evolution Events, overseeing the day to day coordination of construction, infrastructure delivery and operational integration across the wider site.

Our role focused on translating the initial event concept into a fully functioning live environment, coordinating the delivery of both front of house and back of house infrastructure across a previously undeveloped site spanning approximately one square kilometre. Working across more than 20 operational zones, we coordinated suppliers, managed installation activities and supported the integration of infrastructure, hospitality and public event areas into a single operational environment.

The event featured a wide range of large scale activations and attractions including an outdoor ice rink, a water park designed for jet boat racing, a go kart track, a temperature controlled nature dome, multiple stages, bespoke retail environments and fully constructed restaurants delivered across the site. Each activation required supporting infrastructure, utilities, operational planning and coordination to ensure the wider site functioned efficiently as a unified event environment.

Special Projects acted as the coordination link between departments, contractors and suppliers throughout the build, overseeing the delivery of roads, utilities networks, operational compounds and supporting infrastructure required to connect the wider site footprint. This included managing construction activity, supplier scheduling and operational planning across multiple concurrent workstreams within a fast paced delivery programme.

Alongside the public event environment, extensive back of house operations were required to support more than 400 staff members, performers and operational personnel working across the site. Catering, welfare, utilities and operational support infrastructure for crews and performers formed a significant part of the overall delivery, requiring the same level of planning and coordination as the public facing areas of the event.

Working within one of the Kingdom’s early large scale destination event projects, our role also included supporting evolving operational requirements, coordinating international suppliers and maintaining progress across a complex temporary site environment.
